A 30-minute fiction film and live theater performance set in the near future, when AI takes over weapon systems and begins to play an unpredictable role in global conflicts and wars.
The film was commissioned by the Netherlands Office of Foreign Affairs which organized the international (more than 100 countries participated) Responsible AI in the Military Domain (REAIM) congress. The film had to paint a realistic picture of the future and of how AI is expected to develop in and around weapons systems and raise questions about how human users should (or could) deal with it.
The film also formed the basis of a scenario-based exercise that recurred throughout the conference. Guests were asked to reflect on the various scenarios in the film and express their reactions and thoughts in debates that took place after the screening/performance.
The conference was held on February 15 & 16, 2023 in the World Forum theater in The Hague.
